I had the pleasure of working with musician Grace Gachot on a variety of graphics she needed and we had an informal chat over a video call to get a better understanding of what she required and how to best implement this. Grace wanted a logo created that would fit her brand as a musician, a common theme prevalent in Grace's music is fairytales and she wanted this to come across through the logo design. Grace already had an idea that the logo would have leaves within the 'G's and be a script font, I did this by finding the most suitable script font and customising it with leaves I drew on Illustrator, combining it with the letter in a way that wasn't too overwhelming.

ICON DESIGN
I also drew a key entwined within thorny leaves for the icon or used it with the initials to create a sub-logo, the leaf effect makes it consistent with the logo. I have presented the logo and icon with a border and paper texture to emphasise the fairytale aesthetic as though you are reading a storybook.
FIRST DRAFTS
After creating the logo and icon, I was asked to design two different t-shirt and hoodie designs for Grace Gachot's new single released in October 2023 called 'Built to be Bad'. The above shows the original designs were going to use polaroids of Grace with lyrics around it in the handwritten style of font as polaroids were used in her music video, however, the merch company could only work with text-only designs to minimise printing costs.
HOODIE DESIGNS
This hoodie mockup shows the front and back designs, the front features a short lyric in handwritten font surrounded by illustrations of broken hearts, it is simple and minimal, whilst the handwritten font choice gives the effect of lyrics being written. The back design is also minimal but modern, with the song title in bold text with the artist's name underneath in the same handwritten text used in the front design. The following images show how the designs look in real life.
T-SHIRT DESIGNS
Grace wanted a different design for the T-shirts, whilst still keeping with the modern and minimal look. The front is a simple design that features the artist's name in an elegant, script typeface with an illustrated heart beside it. The back design was intended to be bold and striking with more of the lyrics in handwritten text on the back, surrounded by the title in bold font. Both hoodies and t-shirts were printed in black, as it is the more modern and stylish option, and the white text also pops more against the black.
